Covid-19: Director’s message

Euthanasia and assisted suicide law worldwide

In the last few weeks, the world has changed, and our way of life here in New Zealand has changed dramatically.

Today, I would like to assure each of Family Life International’s Friends for Life, our young people, our elderly and each of the pregnant mothers and families whom we work with, and help in many different ways daily,  that you remain in our prayers.

Restrictions have meant that our Saint John Paul II Centre for Life in Auckland has had to close during this time of nationwide lockdown.  However, I want to assure you, that those staff and volunteers who are able to work from home will continue to do so, providing services that are much needed, especially in the midst of this pandemic.

During the lockdown abortion is viewed as an “essential service”, therefore our priority is to offer non-face-to-face assistance and care for women facing unplanned pregnancies.

We continue to stay in touch with the pregnant mothers we are currently working with, and maintain our support in the way of particular pledges, assisting financially, and practically, women (and their families) who have had their babies and require our ongoing practical help.

We are here for all pregnant mothers in need!

Please be assured that the production of outdoor signs for Gianna’s Choice Pregnancy Options and Support are going ahead!  These signs, available for the whole of New  Zealand, will be ready to be delivered to all willing Catholic parishes and Christian Churches through the country, as soon as the National lockdown is lifted.  My team and I will keep you posted with this life-saving project.  I sincerely thank each of you who have contributed to this project.

Clare McClean is working from her home office in Wellington and is preparing training for the many new life-affirming specialists who will boost the numbers of people throughout New Zealand equipped to save the lives of babies, and care for their mothers.

Our 40 Days for Life vigils outside the Auckland Medical Aid Centre and Wellington Hospital have had to come to a close on Monday.  However, we are asking that you take this time to commit to at least one prayer hour between now and Sunday 5 April to pray for an end to abortion, for the mothers, fathers, and babies and for the conversion of abortion workers.  Please pray that this terrible pandemic which has brought the world to a standstill will reorient the priorities of all people to love, protect and serve all human life from its very beginning in the womb until natural death.  A beautiful prayer book can be downloaded on the FLI website.

Our place of work may have changed temporarily, however, our commitment to Saint John Paul II’s Gospel of Life has not changed!  All donations are gratefully accepted and a tax receipt will be issued.  The mums and babies need you today more than ever!

Please note:  It is now very important that all donations are made via internet banking or Paypal as we will not have the ability to process cheques.  Donations can be made directly into FLI’s bank account:
