Vigils for Life

Family Life International’s Vigils for Life (Vigils for the Unborn) are a necessary act of prayer and reparation needed in this great battle to defend and protect human life from the first moment of existence.

In New Zealand, Family Life International facilitates a number of prayer vigils throughout the years with various formats.

  • Vigils for the Unborn in Wellington (based on the Helper’s of God’s Precious Infants vigils)
  • Prayer and Witness to End Abortion outside AMAC in Auckland
  • 40 Days for Life vigils in Auckland and Wellington
  • Vigils for the Unborn

If you would like to get involved, wherever you live in New Zealand, we would love to hear from you and have you join our team!

Wellington Vigils for the Unborn

The vigils take inspiration from Monsignor Philip Reilly decades of pro-life witness. Monsignor Reilly founded the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants.

The vigil begins with Holy Mass, followed by Eucharistic Adoration. During Adoration, those who are able, process, praying the rosary, to the local abortion centre. While outside the abortion centre, prayers are offered for the pre-born babies, for mothers and fathers and for the clinic workers.

The Wellington Vigils for the Unborn are held at
St Anne’s Catholic Church, Emmett Street, Newtown.
Beginning with Holy Mass at 10am.

Prayer and Witness to End Abortion

Every Wednesday morning, outside the Auckland Medical Aid Centre (AMAC) in Dominion Road, a small group of people meet to pray for abortion minded women and for abortion workers. Their presence is a sign of hope, and has saved lives.

Currently, Family Life International (FLI) has two prayer vigil times on a Wednesday morning:

  • 7:30am to 8:30am (during school term time)
  • 9:30am to 10:30am

All are welcome, however, each participant must sign a one-off Statement of Peace.

If you would like more information or to lead a vigil at another time, or on another day, please contact Michelle: 027 526 1199.

40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life is another prayer vigil that Family Life International promotes and facilitates in New Zealand cities. It is a world-wide vigil that helps saves lives in local communities.

The very first 40 Days for Life vigil was held in Bryan College Station, Texas, at the Planned Parenthood facility where Abby Johnson was Director. Through the peaceful, loving prayer and witness of the members of the Coalition for life, Abby Johnson’s eyes were opened to the atrocity she participated in. Abby is now a powerful pro-life advocate, assists pregnant women in need, and helps abortion workers get out of the industry.

Vigils for the Unborn

From time to time Family Life International facilitate prayer vigils outside abortion facilities in addition to the above. These vigils are a time to pray in reparation for the killing that takes place inside these buildings. We pray for the babies, for mothers, fathers, and all those wounded by abortion. We pray for the conversion of abortion workers. We pray for healing. We pray for an end to the most tragic practice of abortion in our land.
