Australian pro-life advocate and distinguished academic gets big win for free speech
When Professor Howe, a distinguished Australian scholar, researched into abortion, she experienced on-line bullying and a series of unjustified complaints about the quality of her academic research into late-term abortion and killing babies born alive after abortion. Despite being found innocent of misconduct in six workplace investigations into her pro-life advocacy and abortion research, the University of Adelaide, Professor Howe’s employer, imposed “corrective actions” on her, instructing her to do a Research Integrity Course to learn how to do “unbiased research.” Professor Howe did not oblige, went into battle, and won her case, with all “corrective actions” lifted. She now intends to continue the fight for academic freedom.

A study co-author said that the results indicate that up to 100,000 patients in the United States alone might have some level of consciousness despite injuries that have left them unable to move or communicate. British police have paid £13,000 in compensation to Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, a Catholic woman, who was wrongfully arrested for praying silently outside an abortion clinic. Isabel Vaughan-Spruce said: “There is no place for Orwell’s thought police in 21st-century Britain, and thanks to legal support I received from the Alliance for Defending Freedom, I’m delighted that the settlement that I have received today acknowledges that.”
