This week on the Pro-Life World View, we bring you interesting articles discussing abortion, euthanasia, and gender issues.

Ministry of Health refuse pregnant mothers the chance to reverse chemical abortion

New Zealand MoH warns against the use of progesterone for ‘abortion reversal’
The Ministry of Health has issued a ‘position statement’ warning that doctors who prescribe medications for ‘abortion reversal’ will be deemed to be in breach of the Medicines Act 1981. The potential penalties for such a breach are substantial and can include imprisonment!
The reason given is that progesterone (the naturally occurring hormone stipulated in the ‘Abortion Pill Reversal’ protocol) is not ‘approved’ for this purpose. Those who: “… sell, distribute or advertise the use of new medicines for this purpose are deemed to be in breach of section 20 (2) of the Medicines Act 1981”.
This aggressive action by the MoH follows similar actions taken in other countries, some of which have been subject to legal challenges. Note that progesterone has been used for many years as an effective treatment for helping sustain certain pregnancies where the possibility of miscarriage is high.

How the Gill Foundation funds the undermining of Church moral teaching
Anne Hendershott – Catholic World Report
Gill Foundation funds undermining of Church moral teaching
The Gill Foundation, funded by a wealthy homosexual couple, sets out to undermine the authority of Catholic teaching on human sexuality including on same-sex “marriage” and transgender issues. The organization Faithful America, with Gill Foundation support, has been targeting Archbishop Cordileone, falsely accusing him of lending the Church’s authority to the “vitriol and hatred” of the March for Marriage held in Washington DC. The Gill Foundation is also providing large grants to New Ways Ministry, which has been attacking Church teaching on homosexuality for over 40 years, and which was prohibited by Pope John Paul II from pastoral work for homosexual persons. This informative article notes various developments, both inside and outside the Church, which vouch for the Gill Foundation’s negative influence.

Montreal woman with Spina Bifida offered euthanasia twice without requesting it

Montreal woman with spina bifida offered euthanasia twice without requesting it
Tracy Polewczuk lives with spina bifida, and on two separate occasions, she was urged to request euthanasia by a medical professional without any prompting on her part. Tracy Polewczuk comments, “It feels like we are being pushed towards the MAID program instead of being given the help to live.” MAID is Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying euthanasia and assisted suicide programme. We have previously reported on pressures from medical staff being brought to bear on a person suffering from a non-terminal condition. The ‘safeguards’ within the Canadian legislation do not stop this from happening – a point worth noting as we prepare for the Review of the New Zealand legislation.

Italy’s prime minister proposes aid for women in financial straits who reject abortion
The prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, continues to pursue her pro-life initiatives by proposing that a “maternity income” fund be established. Her aim is to reduce the pressures on women in financial straits considering abortion. Earlier this year, Giorgia Meloni introduced a package of measures to reduce abortions, including permitting pro-life volunteers to enter abortion centres to offer assistance to mothers seeking abortions.
On the other hand, she has pledged not to seek a repeal of Law 194, which legalised abortions in Italy.

Swiss Teen Taken Into Care After Parents Object to Puberty Blockers
“I can’t believe we live in a society where your child can be taken away from you simply for trying to protect her,” said the parents.
A battle over both diagnosis and treatment has been underway between doctors and the family for several years and has involved court cases and competing diagnoses. Read more via the link about this heartbreaking issue, which is linked to growing concerns about the devastating damage being done by puberty blockers, psychologically and physiologically, to gender-distressed children.

Polish Lawmakers Narrowly Defeat Effort to Decriminalize Abortion Assistance

Polish Lawmakers Narrowly Defeat Effort to Decriminalize Abortion Assistance
A bill to remove criminal penalties for abortionists undertaking illegal abortions was introduced by the New Left party and was only just defeated by three votes (218 – 215). Abortion is legal in certain circumstances in Poland up to 12 weeks of gestation, but the New Left, a social democratic group, has been pushing hard to ‘normalise’ abortion. The Catholic Bishops in Poland posted a quote from Pope Francis on the subject ahead of the vote:
“Let Poland be a land that protects life at every moment, from the moment it appears in the mother’s womb until its natural end …Do not forget that no one is the master of life, either his own or that of others.“

Survey Shows Some Doctors Want to Euthanize Patients Who Aren’t Terminally Ill
Wesley Smith – LifeNews
Some Doctors Want to Euthanize Patients Who Aren’t Terminally Ill
In Canada, the myth that legal assisted suicide is only about terminal illness is becoming harder to swallow. In a survey of Canadian doctors, respondents were asked: “In addition to adults with terminal illnesses, [which] other groups of patients who should be MAID eligible?”
The answers given to this and other questions in the survey are very disturbing. The results reveal just how far doctors—the very people trained for and entrusted with saving lives—have plunged toward a completely utilitarian view of humanity.
FLI Comment:
“The goal of euthanasia and assisted suicide has always been to eliminate suffering – whether the suffering of the patient or the suffering of those who walk with them. But human suffering can never be truly eradicated. We must walk side by side with individuals who experience physical, psychological and spiritual anguish. We must help them in their darkest hour. Killing someone whose suffering we cannot bear is never a legitimate response.”

- To women who have had an abortion
In his encyclical letter Evangelium Vitae, Saint John Paul II advocates for a culture of life and love, challenging society’s distorted views on freedom and autonomy. He extends compassion to women who have had abortions, acknowledging their pain and offering hope and forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation. He urges them to become advocates for life. - At-Home Chemical Abortions: A Dramatic Shift
In just a few years, abortion practice has changed dramatically in New Zealand. Early abortions increasingly take place at home after a teleabortion consultation, rather than in a physical clinic. This model, known as Early…
