This week on the Pro-Life World View we bring you stories about the booming business of IVF, the danger of totalitarianism, and the benefits of having a larger population.

We are not slaves of the state”

“We are not slaves of the state” says Cardinal Gerhard Müller.

Speaking at a Conference in Brussels, the Cardinal warned against ideologies being pushed by political leaders, stating that ideologies not based on reason lead to sin and are very destructive. He reminds us that the state exists to serve man, not vice versa, and he urges us to use our free will and our intellect, and refuse to allow ideological totalitarianism.

More people = more prosperity!

”The Simon Abundance Index 2024 finds Earth’s resources 509% more plentiful than in 1980.”

Here is a story that provides balance and evidence-based insight.  Resource abundance drives prosperity via lower prices and thus increased affordability.  And yet, under the guise of environmental concerns, many – perhaps most – journalists continue to promote stories of environmental and resource scarcity, and of disasters about to overwhelm us.  According to the Simon Abundance Index, resource abundance has been increasing much faster than population – more people drives more innovation and abundance globally.  The real disaster looming is population collapse.

Creating and destroying babies through IVF is a booming business

According to market analysts, the Compound Annual Growth between 2024 and 2034 for the in-vitro fertilization industry in Australia and New Zealand is set to be 12%. Overall, the global IVF marketis expected to be worth 2 billion dollars by 2034.

As we have noted reported previously, it is understood that IVF may destroy more human embryos than abortion every year.  Note that IVF supplants the natural role of the mother – to safeguard with her body the embryo from conception – with laboratory technicians who routinely kill excess, unwanted, or imperfect embryos, whether before or after freezing.

Gestational Limits on Abortion in the United States Compared to International Norms (April 2024)
Mary E. Harned, J.D. and Mia Steupert, M.A. – Charlotte Lozier Institute

Where is abortion on demand at any gestational age legally available internationally?

In this article the Charlotte Lozier Institute review legislative limits on abortion on demand throughout the world.  Eight nations – including Australia and the United States – are identified as having no limits (at the Federal level), meaning abortion on demand is legal up to the date of birth.  New Zealand is listed as having abortion without limitations available up until 20 weeks, but it should be noted that abortion is permitted if one health practitioner deems it “clinically appropriate.”  In practice this means that there are no effective gestational age limits in New Zealand either.
