Saint John Paul II Centre for Life

Family Life International NZ’s Founding Director, Dame Colleen Bayer, established the first Saint John Paul II Centre for Life in Auckland. The pro-life, pro-family organization also has a presence in the Wellington region, (Porirua), and in Dunedin.  FLI has numerous Friends for Life who are on call to assist throughout New Zealand.  The Saint John Paul II Centre for Life in Auckland has the blessing of our local ordinary, Bishop Patrick Dunn.

The Saint John Paul II Centre for Life provides a physical place where mothers and families facing a crisis pregnancy can come for practical help, support and friendship; so that they may choose life for their babies. This offer of support is also extended to the sick, disabled, elderly, lonely, and those who may find themselves targets of euthanasia-type practices. The Centre is also a hub for prayer, education, and research on life, faith and family issues.

The team throughout New Zealand is led by Dame Colleen Bayer, DSG (Director) and supported by Michelle Kaufman (Communications Director), and Father Linus Clovis (Spiritual Director).

Auckland Saint John Paul II Centre for Life

The Auckland Saint John Paul II Centre for Life is the administration hub for Family Life International throughout New Zealand.  In addition to Gianna’s Choice Pregnancy Options and Support (formerly known as Family Life Crisis Pregnancy Centre), publications and educational materials are researched and produced, programmes developed and events organised such as 40 Days for Life, conferences and Theology of the Body courses.

On site is also a gift shop Family Life Catholic Gifts, which has a large range of statues, rosaries, medals, Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation gifts. The shop provides a source of income for the practical work we do to support abortion-vulnerable women and their families.

Chapel of the Annunciation

At the heart of the Saint John Paul II Centre for Life lies our Chapel of the Annunciation. Here, daily prayer takes place in the form of Adoration, the Rosary and Holy Mass. We recognize that all we do and can achieve in promoting a culture of life in New Zealand can only be done by the Grace of God. You are welcome to join us for prayer or to visit the Chapel.

In the Chapel resides a First Class Relic of Saint Gerard Majella, patron of expectant mothers; and two Second Class Relics of Saint Gianna Beretta Molla, patron of physicians, mothers, and unborn children.

The Rosary is recited every day (Monday to Friday): 12:00pm except when Holy Mass is celebrated.

Holy Mass is offered once a week – usually on a Wednesday at 12:00pm.
Please contact the office for details or to be put on our Mass phone list. Phone 09 629 4361.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available from time to time in the Chapel.  Please contact the office for more information.
