This week on the Pro-Life World View we bring you stories about the upcoming End of Life Choice Act review, the need for a global ban of surrogacy, and the eugenic nature of the IVF industry.

David Seymour on Waitangi Tribunal, school lunches and euthanasia
Tini Molyneux, Te Aniwaniwa Paterson & Daniel Perese – Te Ao Maori News
David Seymour and the upcoming End of Life Choice Act review
“I think someone who will die, maybe not in six months but soon enough and suffers badly for a longer time, they should be able to access it too,” says the sponsor of the current euthanasia and assisted death legislation, David Seymour.
He also considers opening up the ability for doctors to discuss “all the options” as being reasonable and “more mature.” His comments seem to echo those expressed in the recent One News campaign promoting similar views. The same kind of tactics and doublespeak have been seen in virtually every other nation legalising euthanasia and assisted suicide.
FLI’s National Director Michelle Kaufman comments: “It has always been Seymour’s desire to have euthanasia and assisted suicide on demand in NZ. He made concessions to get it in the legislative door.”

Bible-tweet case to be heard at Finnish Supreme Court

Finnish Parliamentarian’s ‘Bible Tweet’ case to be heard a third time
Päivi Räsänen has twice been acquitted of hate speech charges of “agitation against a minority group.” She won unequivocal dismissal decisions in two courts, but the Finnish public prosecutor has now obtained a Supreme Court hearing on two of the three charges against her. It seems that the process is the punishment to an extent. There is also global interest in the outcome of the case and the creeping censorship the charges imply.
Her crime? She tweeted the leadership team of her Church (Finnish Lutheran), questioning their decision to sponsor the LGBT event “Pride 2019”.

Experts and Former Abortionist Warn About ‘Eugenic’ IVF Industry
Peter Pinedo – National Catholic Register
Eugenic IVF Industry
Former abortionist and IVF provider, Dr John Bruchalski, warns “IVF is embedded in eugenics.”
Similarly, Andrew Kubick from the National Catholic Bioethics Centre points out “only the best survive.” He comments succinctly on the danger of treating the child as a commodity.
The IVF industry has become a political issue in the wake of a decision by the Alabama Supreme Court ruling that children conceive through IVF were protected legally from wrongful death. There is a clear need – and opportunity – to educate politicians and influencers on the impact of IVF and what is involved.

Do we need a global ban on surrogacy?
Michael Cook – Mercator
Do we need a global ban on surrogacy?
Commercial surrogacy is spoken of as ethically controversial in this story, involving the exploitation of both surrogate mothers and the child. Surrogacy ignores the right for a child to know and be cared for by his/her parents where possible. Pope Francis is quoted in the story as saying the “child is always a gift and never the basis of a commercial contract. Consequently, I express my hope for an effort by the international community to prohibit this practice universally.” [see Dignitas Infinita]. Similarly, Italy’s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, is blunt about surrogacy, saying “no one can convince me that it is an act of love to consider children to be like an over-the-counter product in a supermarket.”

My name is Dona Marie & I’m An Abortion Survivor
Dona Marie – Life Defenders
“My name is Dona Marie & I’m An Abortion Survivor”
Dona Marie survived a failed abortion early in the pregnancy, and then a premature birth at seven months. The abortionist was the one who also delivered her, and planned to let her to die from lack of care. This strategy also failed, and after several days of neglect she was adopted. This is also a story of the impact of the attempted abortion on her, and ultimately of her coming to forgiveness.
