Pro-Life World View | February 14, 2025

This week on the Pro-Life World View, we bring you informative articles on the deadly legacy of Henry Kissinger, Australia’s move to review gender “reassignment” guidelines, further harassment by Police of a UK pro-life advocate, and Health New Zealand’s new website acknowledging the humanity of the preborn.

Revoke NSSM-200 and apologize for evil done
Father Shenan J. Boquet – Human Life International

The deadly legacy of Henry Kissinger

Father Shenan Boquet, president of the US-based global pro-life apostolate Human Life International, recently commented on the radical shift in US foreign policy, stating:

“For the U.S. to adopt a foreign policy that is explicitly committed to proactively fighting the murder of innocent preborn children and promoting a holistic and truly pro-life approach to women’s health marks a radical shift.”

The catalyst for Father Boquet’s observation is President Trump’s executive orders and administrative directives that have defunded the USAID (United States Agency for International Development) and withdrawn the US from UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund). These organisations have been the primary channels used to funnel massive US aid dollars for promoting abortion, contraception, sterilisation, LGBT+ agendas, and coercing unjust and immoral policies in developing nations globally.

Father Boquet describes how these organisations’ roles in US-led population control were shaped by what he calls “The deadly legacy of Henry Kissinger”, whose thought is found in the 1974 Kissinger Report (also known as NSSM-200). While he commends all that the Trump Administration has done in the last few weeks, Boquet calls for the removal of ideas and policies that have come from the Kissinger Report so that authentic aid may be given to those in need.

Sterilisation and surgical mutilation of children paused by Queensland Government

Queensland Health recently announced some restrictions on the use of puberty-blocking drugs.  Australia’s Federal Minister of Health has announced a comprehensive review of gender therapy guidelines (Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for Trans and Gender Diverse Children and Adolescents).

Mercator points to an absence of evidence behind these guidelines and summarises many of the issues with so-called “gender-affirming care”.  Don’t expect a quick answer from the review – it is expected to take up to three years, and even a planned interim report is not due until mid-2026.

FLI comment:

There appears to be a growing awareness by public officials of the dangers of puberty blockers for children and young people around the Western world, including here in New Zealand. It is encouraging to see Australia becoming more aware. As Michelle Kaufman, FLI’s National Director, has noted:

“However, this [the reviews and new-found caution] is just a start. So-called gender-affirming care, whether supporting and facilitating social, chemical, or surgical transitioning, is still harmful to individuals who cannot possibly have the ability to give informed consent to the interventions.”

Police claim pro-life leader’s presence outside abortion centre is harassment

Isabel Vaughan-Spruce successfully won her case against the British Police following her arrest for silently praying outside an abortion centre.  Now, West Midlands Police have again targeted her, telling her that because she is well known as a pro-life advocate, her mere presence near an abortion facility is a form of harassment.

She notes that the Police have gone from erroneously telling her that her prayers were an offence to now saying that she is the offence. The article includes a video link to hear the exchange between her and a Police Officer.

Nurture the Future Within
Health New Zealand

Health NZ launches new initiative “Nurture the future within

Join the movement to nurture the future within. Let’s work together to protect unborn children and create a healthier, more inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.

This encouraging statement describes the intent of a new health initiative, known as Nurture the Future Within, to avoid or reduce harm to the preborn child from alcohol consumption during pregnancy. The plea within the statement obviously should apply to every threat to the preborn’s health, well-being, and life!

FLI Comment:
We applaud Health New Zealand for recognising the humanity of the preborn child in the womb and the need to protect the growing baby. The beautiful language, drawn from Maori heritage, to describe the unique and precious relationship that forms between māmā and pēpi before birth conveys a truth that needs to be embraced by all. However, to be honourable and consistent with their messaging, Health New Zealand ought to use the same language and demand the same protection for all preborn children, decrying the legalised sanction of the slaughter of the innocents in our nation.

Further, the promotion of contraception to prevent children from being conceived and exposed to alcohol and potential harm undermines their message that children are a gift. Such a promotion also encourages promiscuity, devalues women, and exposes them to unnecessary harm. Contraception leads to abortion. Such a mentality puts preborn children who have been exposed to alcohol at risk for an even more dire fate than FASD – death.
